New Wire Options in Tinkercad Circuits

    Tips & Tricks, Features

The default wires in Tinkercad circuits offer a tidy and colorful way to represent your circuit design. In most classrooms, however, circuit prototyping is done with reusable hookup/jumper wires or alligator clips, and we see no reason why your Tinkercad circuits shouldn’t use them too.

To use this new option, simply create or select a wire in your design and use the properties window to change its type.

The wire types are functionally identical to each other. We’ve included them only as an option for your to more accurately represent your circuit design.

One practical difference between the new wire types and the default wire is the ability to more easily angle the ends of the wire once it’s connected. This is especially evident when working with our virtual micro:bit and attaching multiple wires to a single pad. Using alligator clips, you can intuitively fan out a group of connections for a more legible circuit diagram. (3)

We hope you like the new addition. If you have a circuit design you’re particularly proud of, you can set it to public view in your design properties so that others can discover it. You can also share it with us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
