Tinkercad Activities make it easy for teachers to share designs with students.
This Fall, we released the Official Guide to Tinkercad Classrooms, a comprehensive walkthrough of the very best teacher features on Tinkercad. Today, we're thrilled to introduce Tinkercad Activities—an groundbreaking addition to Tinkercad Classrooms that extends the teaching and learning workflow.
How? By making it super easy for teachers to share a design with all students to work from.
So if you ever hear "I'm stuck", 'I don't know where to start", or "How do I start again?", Tinkercad Activities is the answer. Simply send a pre-made design to students using Tinkercad Activities, and your students will be able to work off of an existing design foundation.
Let's get started!
Create a Tinkercad Activity
Find the Activities tab inside your class.
Creating an Activity is easy:
- Open the class you want to add an Activity to
- Navigate to the Activity Tab
- Give the Activity a title and description that will tell your students what to do.
Don't forget to name your activity and provide class instructions.
Share designs to your Activity
Now that you've created an Activity, you can create a new design right from here:
Teacher view of a Tinkercad Activity before any designs are shared.
Alternatively, you can navigate back to your dashboard and choose from any existing designs:
Share a design to all students in a class by adding it as an Activity.
As an added benefit of Activities, you don't even need to make the design public!
Student experience of Tinkercad Activities
Once a design has been shared, students will be able to find these Activities in their classes:
Student view of a Tinkercad Activity from their teacher: "Shared with you".
Students can "Copy and Tinker", follow your Activity description, and create their own projects:
Student view of their designs for a Tinkercad Activity: "Your project designs".
P.S. Are you a science teacher wondering how you can adapt these Codeblocks DNA designs for your class? Chemistry educator Efren Rodriguez created these public designs on Tinkercad. Thank you, @EfrenR!
If students already have a design they want to use (or just accidentally created it outside the activity), they can add it in the same way you can from their dashboard.
And just like you, students won't need to make their designs public for you to see them!
More benefits of Activities
- In an Activity, you'll only see the designs your students have created for it. No more sifting through everything they've created to find just relevant designs.
- At any time, teachers can delete the Activity and designs will still exist in every student's profile.
- Activities work for all 3 design spaces in Tinkercad: 3D Designs, Circuits, and Codeblocks.
Help! I don't see "Classrooms" when I log in to Tinkercad.
In order to use Tinkercad's teacher features such as Classrooms or Activities, you must set your account as a Teacher. When logged in, simply go to your profile (click on your avatar in the top right corner of the page) to toggle this option:
Activities is a feature of Tinkercad Classrooms, available to all Teacher accounts on Tinkercad.
How do you use Tinkercad Activities?
We look forward to hearing from you!
