#MakeItReal Contest Winners…Drum Roll, Please!

Back in August, we announced the #MakeItReal contest, with over $25K in prizes including Chromebooks, Dremel 3D printers, Full Spectrum Laser Cutters, Oculus Rift VR headsets, Arduino kits and more to two schools hoping to amp up or kickstart a makerspace at their school.

The contest ended last month, and the number of incredible entries we received made it really hard to choose… so hard, in fact, we created a new category of winners! (Yay!!) Honorable Mention winners’ schools will each receive ten Chromebooks to spark some more fun and creativity in their learning spaces.

Throughout this week, we will be announcing two Honorable Mention winners in the lead-up to Friday, when we celebrate our two Grand Prize winners. So keep checking back here for the latest updates, or by following us and the winners’ stories on Twitter and through the hashtag #MakeItRealContest.

So let’s get started! Here they are, in no particular order…

Our Sisters’ School

This entry came from a school whose name honors its city’s storied history of women, called Sister Sailors, who joined whaling expeditions in the early 1800’s. Congratulations to Karla Acosta and her fellow learning pioneers at Our Sisters’ School in New Bedford, Massachusetts!

Bishop EQ Jennings Senior Elementary School

We loved this school’s innovative take on improvising a 3D printer for their video. You will too! Hooray to Joel Biesenthal and his hilarious students from Bishop EQ Jennings Senior Elementary School in Thunder Bay, Ontario!
