Happy Fall, Tinkerers! As we embark on an imminent pumpkin population surge, the time feels right for a tutorial to celebrate the season – in 3D, of course. These step-by-step instructions will walk you through how to use the paraboloid and egg shape to create your own pumpkins in Tinkercad. Be sure to check out this Instructable for more detailed instructions.
Create an Egg
First, select the egg shape under the “Extras” tab of the shapes dropdown menu on the righthand side of the editor.
Rotate and Duplicate
Rotate the egg by 90 degrees by holding down the Shift key button and dragging the rotate arrow.
Hold down Command-D to duplicate the egg, and press the Shift button while dragging the rotational arrow to rotate the egg by 45 degrees. Repeat this process until your pumpkin shape is complete!
Select each component by pressing Ctrl-A, and group them with Ctrl-G. Resize the pumpkin by toggling the white dots. Press D to drop the pumpkin down to the workplane level.
Add a stem by rotating a paraboloid, cylinder, or any shape you’d like! Play around with colors by clicking on Solid in the Shape box.
Congratulations–you’ve just designed your first Tinkercad pumpkin patch!
