Today’s TinkerStar profile highlights when family, ideas and Tinkercad come together.
Dream Factory, founded by Nestor “Yan” Llanos, is an educational website and community dedicated to teaching children as early as age 4 how to 3D design and 3D print their own toys. With over 20 years experience in industrial design and engineering, Nestor Llanos has always been passionate about technology and design.
Now a father of two, he wanted to share that passion with his children, and recognized that desire in other parents, as well as the potential for children to begin learning about 3D design and 3D printing at an early age.
He created DreamFactory.build as a way to connect parents and children to be able to share their 3D creations. With the the same goal in mind, he is also Kickstarting a children’s instructional book known as “The Little Designer”, which has step by step instructions simple enough for pre-k children to use.
“Basically, I wanted to engage my own children in age appropriate 3D printing and 3D digital modeling technology,” Yan, told 3DPrint.com. “For instance, my 8 year old child draws in 3D on Tinkercad and 3D prints her own toy designs. With BuddyRacers we have added our four year old to the 3D Builder team.”
