TinkerTour 2016: Dates are Live! (AND UPDATED)

Tinkertour 2016 west coast citiesThe West Coast TinkerTour is just around the corner and we’ve nailed down events at some really great organizations for you guys!  From July 19th to the 29th, we’ll be hitting the road for an action packed series of workshops and meetups to hang out with our awesome community from San Diego to Seattle.  All the events are free, (unless noted below), but space is limited!

Some dates are still being confirmed and we’ll add them as soon as they are.  But here are the confirmed workshops:

– MON July 18 – TinkerCrafting @ GameSync San Diego

Join us at GameSync Gaming Center, one of the highest quality gaming arenas in the world for a FREE full-on TinkerCrafting session!  We’ll go through the Tinkercad-to-Minecraft workflow to put some original designs into a Minecraft world and then build on it together on GameSync’s fiber LAN network.  Get a huge head start on your world by importing 3D designs directly from Tinkercad.  Space is limited, so get your ticket quick!

– Tue July 19 – Lrng certification x2 @ FabLab San Diego

Make your Tinkercad cred official with a digital badge from LRNG – a nationwide initiative that recognizes achievements both in and outside the classroom.  Fab Lab was recently awarded the role of LRNG Anchor Organization -1 of 8 in the whole country – and have awesomely agreed to host us for a couple of workshops.  Get your Tinkercad basics certification as a student with some simple projects or a teacher, making a succulent planter in these project-based workshops. These workshops are $15 with certification, payable at the event.

– Wed July 20 – fusion 360 w/ Deezmaker @ Cokreeate pasadena

Come hang out with Deezmaker, the creators of the Bukito portable 3D printer, at Cokreeate’s space to learn the finer points of Fusion 360!  Ready to take your designs to the next level with rendering, simulation, laser-cutting, or CNC machining?  Feel free to bring your laptops to join along, or just join us to watch and discuss!

– Thu July 21 – Show & Tell @ Long Beach Public Library

Join us at the Long Beach Public Library for some high fives and a bit of show and tell as we talk Tinkercad and Fusion 360!  Bring your Tinkercad projects and questions, and see the TinkerTour Car’s DIY parts. The LBPL has also been using Tinkercad to create custom Scribble Bots with 3D printed parts!  Reserve your spot at Long Beach Public Library here.

– Fri July 22 – Tinkercad and Circuits @LA Public Library

Join us at the LA Public Library on Friday as we talk about making the virtual to actual in Autodesk Circuits and Tinkercad.  We’ll cover the basics of 3D printing, see a mini-CNC machine in action and even do a little NeoPixel-ing.

– Mon July 25 – Tinkercad @ Boise Public Library – IDAHO

Get started with 3D design during the Tinkercad Intro session. Create and play a collaborative Minecraft world during the Tinkercrafting with Minecraft session. Attend the special Tinkercad V2 Sneak Preview or take your 3D design skills to the next level with the Intro to Fusion 360 workshop.  Preview products, technology, and design from vendors and the Idaho maker community or come to share your creations.

– Tue July 26 – TinkerTaco Tuesday @ DIY Cave Bend, OR

Get your Taco Tuesday on with the Tinkercad and Fusion folks at DIY Cave – a makerspace based on a premise of self reliance, responsibility and sharing.  Hopefully, we won’t be needing them to share their awesome auto shop.

– WED JULY 27 – Autodesk Circuits @ Autodesk Offices Lake Oswego, OR

Join us at our offices in Lake Oswego for a demo and workshop with Autodesk Circuits to design, simulate, and customize a complete electronics project, including an Arduino-based (ATTiny) microcontroller, NeoPixel LEDs, switches, and an infrared receiver/transmitter.  Then take that project from virtual prototype to reality with real components .  Space is limited, so hurry to get your tickets to this free workshop.

– Wed JULY 27 – TINKERcad and Fusion 360 @ HandEYeSUpply Portland, OR

Meet us at Hand Eye Supply – headquarters of Core77 – to design succulent planters for 3D printing.  We’ll start in Tinkercad to make our initial designs and then head to Fusion 360 for some more advanced features and to see the planters rendered in different materials.  The workshop is free, so bring a friend and your laptop to follow along.

– THU JULY 28 – Fusion 360 @ CoMotion Makerspace, UW

Ready to take your designs to the next level with photo-realistic rendering, simulation, laser-cutting, or CNC machining?  Learn about the next steps in designing and making your projects with Fusion 360 – we’ll cover some powerful professional features, as well as run through a quick getting started follow-along exercise.  So feel free to bring your laptops to join along, or just join us to watch and discuss!  Most CoMotion MakerSpace events have been only been available to UW students and employees, but they have opened up some spots for the public just for these TinkerTour events!  For more info about the CoMotion MakerSpace: http://comotion.uw.edu/makerspace

– Thu July 28 – Circuits @ Metrix Create:Space Seattle

Want to build custom electronics into your next project? Join us at Metrix Create:Space as we use Autodesk Circuits to design, simulate, and customize a complete electronics project, including an Arduino-based (ATTiny) microcontroller, NeoPixel LEDs, switches, and an infrared receiver/transmitter.  Then take that project from virtual prototype to reality with the actual components.  This project is based on the same custom lighting system used in our TinkerTour Rally Car, which will be a the event.

– Fri JULY 29 – CIRCUITS @ COMotion Makerspace, UW

Join us at UW’s CoMotion Makerspace as we use Autodesk Circuits to design, simulate, and customize a complete electronics project, including an Arduino-based (ATTiny) microcontroller, NeoPixel LEDs, switches, and an infrared receiver/transmitter.  Then take that project from virtual prototype to reality with real components.
