Thanks everyone for all the amazing submissions to be one of our featured TinkerStars!
We have had so many great users come forward to share their stories with us. We are going to be showcasing a new user every Monday, so check back and continue to nominate yourselves or others!
So let’s hear about our first TinkerStar:
Tinkercad User Name: jamesfloydkelly
How Did You Find Out About Tinkercad?: I found Tinkercad just after it was founded — a friend knew I was looking for an entry-level CAD application for teaching kids and got me hooked on it.
What is Your Favorite Feature in the Editor?: It’s a tie between the Hole button and the Group button.
Why are you a TinkerStar?: Not only did I write a book (Pearson) on Tinkercad, but I’ve also begun teaching it at summer camps. This summer (2015) I had two camps (3rd thru 7th grade) consisting of 32 kids who all are Tinkercad fans now.
What is your favorite model you have designed in Tinkercad?: I’m proud of the custom pieces I’ve created for special projects in a few books for Maker Media. I created a custom Raygun grip as well as an NeoPixel LED holder. I’m using Tinkercad right now to create a 3D maze that can be printed on my 3D printer to create a toy that will hopefully be featured in an upcoming Make: magazine. Just tonight I printed out another LED holder for a project for an upcoming LED project book.
And if you were interested in reading the book that James wrote about Tinkercad. Check it out! It’s a pretty great topic, if we say so ourselves.
Congrats James and wear your hoodie with pride!
