Thank you for the warm reception!

Hi Everyone,

There’s been so much excitement and such a positive response to the Autodesk acquisition of Tinkercad!  With everything that’s going on in the transfer, I just wanted to write a quick update.

It’s official! The deal is done – signed, stamped and closed. We’re really eager to get updates rolling out again and see what kinds of designs you guys come up with. Some of you have commented on things you’d like to see in Tinkercad, and believe me, we’re listening. Our team will be working on feature requests that come directly from YOU, so keep the suggestions coming.

Some of you have asked about changes to the subscription plans. At the moment, current paid accounts have a 3-month no-charge grace period.  Also, as Kai said in his previous post, all free plans are now beefed up to include 2D/3D importing, unlimited designs, and ShapeScripts! We’re keeping theses features free, but sign up quick, as this offer is good for a limited time. Stay tuned for updates on how we plan to roll out great value free and premium accounts across the Tinkercad and 123D family going forward.

Another question we’re hearing is about accounts for kids. It is very important to us to protect the privacy and online safety of our younger users, and to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) regulations. We are working on a plan to allow folks of all ages to access Tinkercad.

We’ll be rolling out more details and updates as they arise.  In the meantime, our blog and social media are still the best place to check for news.  You can also email us at tinkercad-support@autodesk.com.

Again, thank you all for the wonderful reception.  We’re honored to be stewards of such a wonderful community and look forward to seeing what you guys get up to!

  3. Hi Andrew, thanks to Autodesk for adopting Tinkercad, it really means a great deal.
I am under the personal plan but need to register more accounts for my students but can’t seem to register for a free account at the moment.. Any advice on this?
    Thanks a million!

  4. Hi Andrew, I’m psyched you’re keeping TinkerCAD alive and kicking. I’d like to setup 20 accounts for my students using TinkerCAD also. What would be the easiest way to accomplish this? Thanks.

    • We’re working on rolling out an updated education offering soon. The COPPA laws (re. users under 13 yrs) have recently changed and we’re updating on our end to adhere to them. The short answer is YES, but stay tuned for what that looks like.
