We are happy to introduce you to our first Friday Roundup. Our hope is to sum up the events of the week every Friday to give you some insight into what we’re working on, released, “tinked” about and lots of other good stuff. And this is an especially great week for us to kick this off!
GRAND ONE 2012 GALA. In its 16th year, this gala honors Finnish companies who demonstrate extraordinary talents in the digital media space. Yesterday evening, Pauliina and Henrik attended the Grand One Gala where Tinkercad was the finalist in two categories: Best Consumer Service and Best UX-Design. Competitors included the likes of Valio, Kiosked and Scoop Shoot to name a few. Needless to say, it was an honor to be chosen as the winner in not one, but two categories.
What the judges had to say about Tinkercad:
- This service, which is in the beginning of its journey, brings new technology to every single home.
- Globally unique service with a huge potential has already gathered attention from every corner of the Earth, and not without reason.
- Interesting, easy and fun!
- This amazing innovation made the jury’s tummy tingle.
- The results are already clear: the service is exciting people all around the world.
Way to go Tinker Team and many thanks to, you, our Tinkers for making this possible! You can read additional highlights from the gala in our Twitter feed and view photos on our Facebook page, as well as what the Grand One had to say about us.
#CHESS CHALLENGE. On Monday, we kicked off our #Chess Challenge where the winner takes home a MakerBot Replicator. The judge’s panel consists of designers from both MakerBot and Tinkercad who will look for “Wow” factor, printability and likability (by granny and the kids, and maybe the dog, too!). Thus far, the competition is pretttty fierce. Take a look! And isn’t too late to enter either. The #Chess Challenge ends on April 1,2012 at 12AM midnight PST.
SEARCH. Finding what you need is an important tool to have as a Tinker user, which is why this week we released a very robust search tool located in the header. It allows you to find tags, Tinkerers and Things. As an example, if you’re looking for all Things tagged with #chess, you can enter this in the search box and will see the following results. Then you can click on the link to the #chess tags and it will take you to the results for that particular hashtag.
COLORS. You love them, you wanted them and now you have them! Select the perfect color for your new Thing from the updated color palette or update an existing Thing. Because in this release, we managed to add 12 additional colors bringing the grand total to 37. Since the launch of the new colors, it looks like there are plenty of Tinkerers who are taking advantage of the new selection especially in our #chess competition! So don’t delay! Get back to whatever you were Tinkering on and make it that perfect shade of pale purple or vibrant orange.
Have a great weekend!
